Tree House Gallery & Tea Room

The Tree House Gallery and Tea Room, of the front house of the Olde Avon village, is the original farmhouse of the Mathias Alten property, built in the Georgian Colonial Style around 1850. Alten came to the United States from Germany in 1845 where he married Gertrude Weber. They raised nine children in this house, willing the home and part of the acreage to the youngest child, Rosa. In 1896 Rosa married Peter Casper, Thus the designation Alten-Casper House to indicate the first and last families to actually use the house as a family home. In 1995 the Alten-Casper House was turned into the Tree House thus known today, where every day we serve fresh unique lunches and a nice selection of handcrafted teas.
